Rafael Sandoval (Granada, 1975) moved to Barcelona when he was two years old. There he began to study Fine Arts, a career he left unfinished when he had the opportunity to work in advertising.  He has worked in animation, doing character design and intercalator, storyboard and animation tasks (for example, he worked for BRB in projects such as Fantaghiró and the Daughter of the Black Corsair and in a studio that worked for Disney (animation, illustrations, comics).

In the world of comics, he has been working regularly for Marvel Comics since 2007, working on various side titles (Hercules, Avengers: The Initiative, X-Men Legacy), although he has had the opportunity to collaborate with top Marvel writers such as Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman on two different projects for the publisher's Ultimate line. 

In 2012 he began working for DC, in charge of the Catwoman series, then he worked in collections such as Action Comics, Suicide Squad, collaborating in Superboy, he was in charge of the collection of Red Hood and the Outlaws, he worked in Valiant Comics in charge of some story arcs of the flagship collection of this publisher as X-O Manowar, shortly after he returned to DC in charge of one of the collections of Hal Jordan and the Green Lanterns Corps, a title of the new Rebirth line. After two years of work he moved to the collection of The Flash, a year and a half later he made the switch to the new collection Teen Titans Academy in which he participated in the creation of the new characters of this collection, in this series he drew until number 7, then he jumped to the new miniseries of Black Adam, after this miniseries he drew the Book of Death, then he moved to the collection of Action Comics in which he spent more than a year and a half working. He is currently a regular artist in the Absolute Superman collection.
