John Howe is one of the most prominent and recognized illustrators of Tolkien's work.
He has contributed to the creation of the popular Tolkien calendars and the Maps of Middle-Earth. His work has also been used for posters commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of The Hobbit's publication and the centenary of Tolkien's birth, as well as for the dust jackets of the latest editions of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion and The History of Middle-Earth.
Howe was also lead concept artist for the artistic design of the film adaptation of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit trilogies, and is currently collaborating on The Rings of Power.
