He began his career as a cartoonist in the mid-nineties. He started out as a designer and commercial artist, later combining comics (Under Cómic, Subterfuge Cómix, Dibbuks, Autsaider, etc.) with editorial illustration. To date, he has illustrated more than forty books (SM, Anaya, Santillana, Astiberri, etc.) and has signed several titles as an author.
In recent years, Chema García has dedicated much of his professional work to the audiovisual sector, participating in projects strongly linked to comics, such as the biographical film about Vázquez, The Great Vazquez (Óscar Aibar, 2009), or Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles, Goya for Best Animated Film in 2020, based on the original work by Fermín Solís.
García has been art director of the animated series for HBOMax, Poor Devil (2023), a project conceived by Joaquín Reyes, Ernesto Sevilla and Miguel Esteban.
