Sergio García Sánchez (Guadix, Spain. 1967) studied Fine Arts at the University of Granada where he currently teaches as a University Professor.
He is an artist, cartoonist and illustrator. He has worked for Dënoel, Norma Editorial, Dupuis, Toon Books, Fantagraphics, Dargaud, Delcourt, Glénat, Dibbuks, Actes Sud; The New Yorker, The New York Times, El País Semanal, El País Babelia, Grupo Correo; Ediciones SM, Ediciones Santillana, Edebé, among others.
His work has been recognized with the Spanish National Illustration Award in 2022 and by The Society of Illustrators (2023-2022-2021-2016), American Illustration (AI37), ÑH Awards (2019-2020), FESPA (2020), APIM (2019), School Library Journal (2016), Kirkus (2016), Festival International de Bande Dessinnée de Sierre (2001) or CBBD-Centre Belge de la Bande Déssinne.
He has also participated in exhibition projects in Paris (Musée National Picasso), New York (Society of Illustrators), Angoulême (Musée de la Bande Dessinée), Brussels (CBBD), Frankfurt (International Book Fair), Madrid (National Library of Spain), Granada (Centro de Arte Contemporáneo José Guerrero and Crucero del Hospital Real) and many others.
