Roy Thomas is an American comic book writer and editor, regarded by many as a cornerstone in the history of the industry. He has had one of the most extensive careers in the comic sector and his bibliography lists innumerable titles on which he has worked over the years. His career as a writer began as an apprentice to Mort Weisinger, then editor of DC Comics, and later he made the move to Marvel Comics, where he eventually replaced Stan Lee himself as Editor-in-Chief. Roy Thomas is known for having introduced the pulp magazine hero Conan the Barbarian into American comics and in the superhero world for having revived characters from the Golden Age of the thirties and forties. Outstanding in his many awards is Prize for the Best Foreign Author given by the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 1974 and being inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2011. Planeta Cómic has published Las crónicas de Conan, the remastered edition of the legendary series of Conan the Barbarian. Roy Thomas is visiting the 36th Barcelona International Comic Fair on the occasion of the first work created by the author to be produced in Spain: Red Sonja: La balada de la Diosa Roja, illustrated by Esteban Maroto and Santi Casas and published by Planeta Cómic.
