He is, among many things, a musician and film director, and certainly one of the most influential and charismatic figures of the Basque cultural scene.

He founded Kortatu in 1984 with his brother Íñigo. His musical evolution has been unstoppable since then, both with the bands Kortatu and Negu Gorriak and also as a solo artist, embracing creation in Basque language and touring tirelessly around the world.

In addition, he has directed more than a dozen music documentaries and two animated films, Black is Beltza and Black is Beltza II: Ainhoa.
