Quan Zhou
(Algeciras, 1989)

She is an illustrator, comic author and digital product designer. She graduated in graphic design and in 2013 she opened a web comic about the story of her Chinese family, who were settled in Andalusia and owned an Asian restaurant. This story was partly published in the digital version of the newspaper El País. The satiric adventures of the Zhou family, drawn in a style similar to manga, gave the artist an idea for her first comic Gazpacho agridulce (Sweet and Sour Gazpacho - Astiberri, 2015) and its continuation Andaluchinas por el mundo (Chineselusians Around the World - Astiberri, 2017). Her published books also include El gran libro de los niños extraordinarios (The Great Book of Extraordinary Children), together with Nuria Labari (Silona, 2018) and the graphic essay Gente de aquí, gente de allí (People from Here, People from There - Astiberri, 2020). She has also collaborated in the program Hoy empieza todo (Radio 3), has published articles and illustrations in various media such as Verne, Vogue or eldiario.es, and has given talks on racism and identity.
