Laura Pérez
Nominated for Best Spanish Authored Work at the 43rd Comic Barcelona Awards

Laura Pérez (Valencia, 1983) has worked in the field of illustration for national and international publications and publishers such as The Washington Post, National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, Wacom, American Airlines, Fnac, El País and Penguin Random House, among others.

She has contributed to anthologies such as Illustration Now! 4 (Taschen), Ilustradores españoles (Spanish Illustrators - Lunwerg) and Women's Club. Art is Powerful (Monsa Publications). She has been selected for the Communication Arts Illustration Awards and 3x3 The Magazine of Contemporary Illustration. She won the first prize of Valencia Crea 2015 with the comic strip Empatía (Empathy). She draw a comic in the compilation De muerte (GP Ediciones, 2016) and published her first graphic novel, Náufragos (Castaways - Salamandra, 2016), together with the writer Pablo Monforte, winning the IX Premio Fnac Salamandra Graphic, with a work that has also been published in France, Italy and the USA.

She is selected in the I National Comic Contest Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria with the comic Juega (Play), published in the compilation En corto (Astiberri, 2018). She illustrated Los secretos de las brujas (The Secrets of Witches - Errata Naturae, 2020), with texts by Elsa Whyte and Julie Légère, and Sirenas de leyenda (Mermaids of Legend - Errata Naturae, 2021), with texts by Rémy Giordano and Olivia Godat. In 2022, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for the credits of the television series Only Murders in the Building (Disney+), for which she collaborated with the American studio Elastic. He signs Ocultos (Hidden - Astiberri, 2019), her first solo graphic novel, winner of the first El Ojo Crítico de Cómic 2020 award, the Ignotus 2020 for the best national comic and the Splash Sagunt for the best national album of 2019, also published in the US and Slovenia; Tótem (Astiberri, 2021), also published in Brazil, the US and Slovenia, and Espanto (Fright - Astiberri, 2022). Her most recent work is Nocturnos (Nocturnal - Astiberri, 2024).
