Francisco Ibáñez (1936-2023), one of our most popular cartoonists and creator of Mortadelo y Filemón, 13, Rue del Percebe or Rompetechos among many other series, was always closely linked to Comic Barcelona. Not only he attended to practically all the fairs with his signing sessions, but he was also the winner of the Grand Prix in 1994, the author of the poster of the thirty-fourth edition and protagonist of several exhibitions of originals. This year, Comic Barcelona wants to pay him a great tribute, remembering his figure and what he meant for both the comic book industry and its readers. It is a very special exhibition, different from the ones Ibáñez has been the subject of so far. An exhibition with the collaboration of Francisco Ibáñez's family and his publishing house, Penguin Random House.
Our Ibáñez will be divided into three parts. The Ibáñez of the readers, with the collaboration of his readers; The Ibáñez of the profession colleagues with reproductions of drawings made by comic professionals; and The most intimate Ibáñez with special Ibáñez originals rarely seen or unpublished such as his pencil pages, sketches, character designs, unfinished comics or some of the comics from his early years as a professional.
